Reimagining a Classic Bungalow for Modern Living

This Scarborough bungalow underwent a comprehensive interior transformation designed to improve flow, function, and long-term durability. The goal was to modernize the home while respecting its original proportions and maximizing storage within a compact footprint.

From structural preparation and waterproofing to detailed millwork and finish selections, every phase of this renovation was carefully coordinated. Scope of Work

Main Floor Interior Renovation

Selective Demolition

Removed existing kitchen cabinetry, flooring, and outdated finishes. Prepared subfloors and wall surfaces for new tile, hardwood transitions, and millwork installation.

Subfloor & Surface Preparation

Installed Schluter-DITRA uncoupling membrane in tiled areas to ensure crack resistance and long-term performance. Shower walls were rebuilt using Schluter-KERDI-BOARD for complete waterproofing prior to tile installation.

Flooring Installation

Laid patterned porcelain tile in the kitchen to create visual interest and define the workspace. Existing hardwood was refinished and seamlessly integrated into adjacent living areas.

Trim & Finishing Carpentry

Installed new baseboards, door casings, and custom window trim details to elevate the overall finish quality.
